Took on a Monday road trip around home with Faidhi since he has gotten access to his family car. Settled for a really simple lunch at Five & Dime because the place we wanted to head to initially was closed. Then it was impromptu driving around Singapore and it was fun getting lost looking through the GPS and going in rounds.

Unspoken closeness in friends are such blessings. Thank you Faidhi.

There’s a kind of adrenaline rush, along with disappointment and agony with film photography. The excitement of sending your works for developing, the disappointment of seeing your photos turning out crappy, and the agony of spending quite a fair bit of money on having to get them processed. But the surprise you get when you see those photos turn out good, and a bit of a memory recap when there are shots you don’t remember capturing.

So here it is. My very first set of slides film, taken with the Yashica. Fresh from the oven.

The night before our meet up, Estella and I had trouble thinking of where to meet/dine at with a few different choices we had in mind and thank God Estella reminded me of visiting Toby’s Estate. It was in my to-eat list, hidden somewhere at the back of my mind, which I obviously had forgotten about. It was definitely worth the trip trying to find this little gem hidden in a quiet corner of a populated central Singapore.

Toby’s Estate served food that made me feel satisfied and healthy, despite the portion looking small. Toby’s granola was absolutely appetizing and filling, along with a influx of anti-oxidants. Estella’s croissant was really crispy on the exterior and soft on the inside. The place was just absolutely perfect if you’re in for a lazy day, just like what we did. We spent hours there talking, and the staff actually invited us over to watch their coffee artist work their magic. Friendly staff and service over good food. Not forgetting that the weather was absolutely breezy that very day too.

Mondays make lazy days so perfect. x

The day I ventured out with only my Yashica. Down side of a film camera is that I can’t have the ISO adjusted higher when needed in a dark place like this, hence the lack of food pictures.

Met up with Faidhi after a really long time, and the very kind soul in him (despite me being honestly mean hahaha) gave me three rolls of film he had gotten for me to try. We roamed around the city snapping away on our rangefinders, and him being the more experienced rangefinder user told me that the Yashica I had gotten actually had a few problems while the exterior of the camera looked perfectly good. Now I’ve sent it to the Camera Hospital to have it fixed, which will obviously incur additional cost. That means that I didn’t really get the Yashica at a steal after all. ☹

That aside, it was a great day catching up with Faidhi on what has been going on in each other’s lives while our usual routines kept us busy.

(P.S: In case you were expecting photos taken with a Canon 5D based on the title, I’m sorry to disappoint. 5D is Faidhi’s nickname heh. Oh yes, pun intended.)

Relatively impromptu date with Emily to laze our sunday away over food, constant chatting and movie – and one of the days when I decided to chuck aside my digital cameras and go film. Brought out my newly acquired Yashica Electro 35 GSN along with my LC-A+ out for a spin. Our adventure along Duxton hill involved lunch at Group Therapy and some warm coffee to avoid the rain at The Pigeon Hole, where we caught up and laze around even more before our impromptu decision on heading over to the cinemas for a movie.

Thank you for your spontaneity through days like this Emily. Brings so much serenity and peace to my weary soul. Friends like these definitely make a tough life a little more bearable. x

and a few random day-to-day moments when I had my LC-A+ with me.

If you haven’t already know, I’ve got a new member in my family and that’s the Yashica Electro 35 GSN rangefinder camera. I have been inspired by film photography for quite a while already but never dared to commit myself into getting a proper film camera until Faidhi showed me a page where someone is letting go hers. Which makes this a secondhand camera – but in absolutely good condition. The best of all, I got it at a steal.

I am pretty certain that my first roll of film is probably gonna turn out crappy, but that’s okay because I am just going to keep trying until I can produce presentable pictures with this baby.

Hello Beauty from the 1960s, I hope you will surprise me.

This is the kind of time when I really wished the our long distance relationship is over. Will it please get easier?

From Estella’s

Impromtu date with Estella on Monday saw us walking through the allies and rooftops and doing silly acts hoping no one will catch us in act.  Thank goodness the weather was being really kind because the clouds were gloomy the entire time, but it didn’t rain in wherever we were at. Estella’s spontaneity made the whole day extremely fun yet exhausting at the very same time, my leg couldn’t stop aching when I got back home that night. All in the name of Fun.
