Beautiful Zermatt at Twilight
Our stay at Zermatt was a short one, but I was so glad that we didn’t give up the idea of visiting this car-free town just to visit the famous Matterhorn. It did sound a little ridiculous for me initially to travel a few hours just to see a mountain from a distance, but boy it truly stood out when it stands right before your eyes!
Jon and I spent our afternoon exploring the little town before we, literally, went around the town of Zermatt to check out which corner would give us the best spot for the perfect view and picture of Matterhorn, and I think we got just that. We went trigger happy while waiting for twilight, and Zermatt gave out vibes that feels just like Christmas – it was beyond beautiful.
The next day, we got our train tickets up to Blauherd with the intention to hike up to Lake Stellisee to grab a less touristy view of the Matterhorn, but sadly the weather wasn’t on our side. After an hour’s hike, we couldn’t find the lake only to realise that it was completely frozen and covered by the snow. The amount of snow that piled over the lake was so high that Jon’s head was literally touching the tip of the road signs. Nonetheless, we lingered around and took all the pictures we wanted to since there wasn’t a single soul around except for us and the view. While we hiked back to the station, we sat on the pavements in the middle of nowhere, broke some icsicles and ate them for the fun of it. To make it simple, we were behaving like kids just because no one was watching.
Oh wait, did we forget that we are actually parents already? I think we did!
And of course, which has also become our family’s little tradition, to end our trip with a vlog.
Thinking back, I still cannot believe we actually went on this two months after I gave birth to Tyler. It still makes me smile when we still value the same passion as a couple even when our little one came into our life. This is our second trip to Europe, and also our second trip since our wedding – but it doesn’t matter where we head to now because doing a vlog for every holiday is fast becoming a duty of mine for our family’s little tradition.
Thank you my dearest for planning this trip to celebrate our 10th year anniversary in advance, and to spend some quality couple time together. Always the best travel companion, and definitely my partner to celebrate life with. Looking forward to sitting down on the couch one day when we are old, rewatching all of our travel adventures together. x
