Kukup at 11.30pm
(From Jia Sheng’s Canon 650D)
Haven’t posted such an image heavy entry in such a long time. Over the weekends, together with my poly mates and Jon, we went on an annual short escapade to Kukup for a Chinese New Year gathering. Despite it being a little earlier this year with the lack of crackling sounds from the fire crackers from the neighbouring kelongs, we still had our share of fun over food, games, drinks and our usual fireworks. Too much laughters echoed through our chalet unit; laughters from poking fun at each other during the games, laughters from laughing at each other as we wrote our wishes on the kong ming lantern with our terrible chinese.
Though it wasn’t a long nor an extremely mindblowing trip, but it was definitely a much needed one. One that puts us away from hectic routined city life, one that allows us to live like little Kings and Queens for that two short days, and one that gathers everybody together especially when some of us are leaving to study abroad for years. It was a pity that some of our dear friends couldn’t join us though. ☹
My first mini getaway for the year, and it was a rejuvenating one. I’m looking forward to the next gathering over in this little corner of Malaysia already. x
