“To a certain extent, I figured, it’s sometimes hard to avoid losing. Nobody’s gonna win all the time. On the highway of life you can’t always be in the fast lane. Still, I certainly don’t want to keep making the same mistakes over and over. Best to learn from my mistakes and put that lesson into practice the next time round. While I still have the ability to do that.”
Spent my Monday striking off the first thing on my resolution for the year, and heading back to my second home to spend the entire day relaxing. That includes sipping on Reds while working on my report, researching on the perfect accommodation for our anniversary getaway, and listening to jazz while J the sweetheart was falling asleep beside me.
Later that evening, I spent some time alone by the poolside reading a book while waiting for the boyfriend to get home for a swim together. And one of the things I wanted to do this year was to pick up reading — something I never quite enjoyed since I was a kid — and Jo lent me one of books by her favourite writer. Then swimming a few laps while having some silly fun with Jon in the pool.
It was like… I was either striking things off my resolution list or getting started on them just in one day. In the comfort of somewhere familiar and cosy, in the comfort of my own existence. This year, I’m making it a point to find myself. x
